Affiliate Disclosure
Effective: March 2026 · Last updated: March 21, 2026
The Short Version
Flaruva is an affiliate marketing platform. Content published through Flaruva may contain affiliate links. When a reader clicks an affiliate link and makes a purchase, the publisher (you, our user) may earn a commission from the merchant — at no extra cost to the reader.
What Are Affiliate Links?
An affiliate link is a specially tracked URL that records when a visitor arrives at a merchant's website from a publisher's content. If the visitor purchases a product, the publisher earns a commission. Affiliate networks Flaruva integrates with include:
- Amazon Associates — Product links to Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and other regional stores
- ClickBank — Digital products and software
- ShareASale — A broad network of physical and digital product merchants
How Flaruva Handles Disclosures
- Auto-insertion: Flaruva automatically prepends a standard affiliate disclosure to every generated article before publishing. This disclosure is injected both during AI content generation and enforced again at the point of publishing.
- Default disclosure text: "Affiliate Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you."
- Social content: For social media posts, FTC and ASA guidelines require disclosures such as #ad, #affiliate, or #sponsored to be included. Users are responsible for adding appropriate hashtags to social posts.
- Video descriptions: YouTube requires affiliate disclosures to appear within the first three lines of the video description. Flaruva recommends including the disclosure when editing video descriptions before publishing.
- WordPress auto-publish: When articles are auto-published to WordPress via the Flaruva integration, the affiliate disclosure is included in the article HTML.
FTC Compliance (United States)
The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that any "material connection" between a publisher and a brand or merchant be clearly and conspicuously disclosed to readers. This includes affiliate relationships where commissions are earned. Flaruva's default disclosure is designed to meet this requirement for written content. Key principles:
- Disclosure must be clear and conspicuous — not buried in footnotes or hidden behind links
- Disclosure must appear near the affiliate link, not only in a general disclaimer
- The FTC does not mandate specific wording, but language must be unambiguous

ASA/CAP Compliance (United Kingdom)
The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) enforces the CAP Code, which requires that all marketing communications — including affiliate content — are clearly identifiable as advertising. Key requirements:
- Affiliate posts on social media must be labelled #ad at the beginning of the post (not at the end)
- The label must be prominent and unambiguous — "gifted", "spon", or abbreviations are not sufficient
- Blog posts should include a clear disclosure at the top of the article

Amazon Associates Requirements
If you use Amazon Associates links through Flaruva, you must comply with the Amazon Associates Programme Operating Agreement. Amazon requires the following disclosure to appear on any page containing Amazon affiliate links:
"[Site/Blog Name] is a participant in the Amazon Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com."
Flaruva's default disclosure meets the general spirit of this requirement, but we recommend adding the Amazon-specific language to your site footer or disclosure page if you heavily use Amazon links.
User Responsibility
- Flaruva provides disclosure tools and default text as a convenience, not as legal advice.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring your content complies with all applicable laws and affiliate network agreements in every jurisdiction where it is distributed.
- Affiliate marketing regulations vary by country and change over time. Flaruva recommends consulting a legal professional if you are uncertain about your obligations.
- Flaruva is not liable for any regulatory penalties, network account suspensions, or legal consequences arising from non-compliant content published by users.
